One of the most popular drinks in the south of france is called pastis, an anise flavored spirit mixed with water, and the glasses have handy lines to help measure the simple cocktail.

Inscribed between the lines are common phrases used by pastis drinkers; one that loosely translates as Pure Water, a wink at the fact that they rarely drink plain water, and the other a declaration that the contents are "drinkable... (well I think so)"
