The very first Tiptree conserves were made there in 1885 and to this day, they still specialize in fruit growing on the Tiptree estates. Tiptree Lemon Curd is made from the juice of lemons which are procured overseas by the Wilkins's technical director of over forty years. His expertise in finding the very best lemons, which are then hand sorted at the factory, ensures that Tiptree Lemon Curd is the finest available. Tiptree Lemon Curd is made with sugar, butter, lemon juice, egg yolks, whole egg, pectin and lemon oil. This zesty, cooked cream was traditionally served during Afternoon Tea spread onto scones; however, its uses are varied. Lemon Curd can be spread on toast, crumpets, English Muffins or pancakes. It can serve as a filling for cakes, trifles, tarts and even sandwich cookies. Mix with whipped cream and serve with berries. Lemon Curd is also a wonderfully flavorful addition to custards and ice creams.
