This is a longtime Monsieur Marcel exclusive, made for us at a small chateau in Bordeaux. It's a classic Right Bank of Bordeaux red, with a majority of rich, ripe Merlot punctuated by blackberry and plum flavors, supple tannins, and restrained acid. The supporting Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc serve to give some muscularity and depth to the blend, and while it is great with red meats and sharp cheeses, it is also less full-bodied than some Bordeaux reds, which makes it great with lighter fare or by itself.
